Talking to Business Recorder after the meeting, Razina Alam said the committee had asked the ministry to prioritise issues of ethics and morality in its proposed curriculum review for secondary schools and colleges.
"The morality and preservation of the ideology of Pakistan must be our utmost priority. That's what we should teach our children. This is the way to protect them from ever spreading social evils," Razina, herself an educationist, claimed to have directed to the ministry.
Razina, on whose adjournment motion a debate on the government's education policy was held in the Senate during the last session, said that the ministry had also been asked to complete the process within a year.
Meanwhile, a statement issued here said Federal Minister for Education Javed Ashraf Qazi informed the committee that the ministry was planning to review the curriculum for both sciences and humanities to make it more vibrant.
He assured the committee that the proposed review would be carried out in a systematic manner and the curriculum development processes practiced by various countries should be kept in view.
He said the ministry intended to hire Pakistanis as consultants and experts in science and humanities subjects from the private sector.
